Mozambique – 2401 – Children’s project☺

Poverty and lovelessness are often the causes that eventually lead people to the criminal path. With this children’s project in Mozambique we want to fight against this. We want to introduce the children, who live in poverty, to the Lord Jesus by telling them about His great love and grace for us. They also receive meals and other amenities. They meet every Sunday in a kind of ‘children’s church’.

The children’s church near Beira is growing and every Sunday in the afternoon there are between fifty and a hundred children who listen to a Bible story, play games and get something tasty. In addition to Manga, there are now also children’s afternoons in Tica and Muda, further down the province. A meal is also distributed at these locations. The children’s workers are trained once a year so that they are motivated and equipped to work with the children.

An afternoon consists of singing songs (with gestures!), a Bible story with processing and of course sports and games. Especially in the rural areas, the children’s churches are a welcome change from the boring and difficult life of these children. It makes a huge difference when children are told at a young age that they are loved, that they really feel that they are ‘seen’ and that there are people who care about them, like Chico and Sylvia. In these children’s churches the Bible is opened and the children are taught about the Lord God, the Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
